Traffic Accident Prevention Countermeasures for Older Drivers: Focusing on Driver’s License System

Abstract
Korea has been heading for aged society after having recentlypassed through aging society, and will be confronted with seriousproblems especially in traffic safety area owing to aging population.For instance, the possibility that older drivers might be involved intraffic accidents would be growing higher and higher. Some of thetraffic safety policies were introduced to reduce the possibility fromthe ‘survival of fittest’ and ‘fitting for survival’ perspectives in thispaper. More specifically, reinforcement of the current aptitude testsystem, introduction of conditional driver’s license, development anddissemination of traffic safety education program, and so on werediscussed in the context of traffic safety for older drivers.
