Concepts, Examples and Lessons of Smart Homes to Support the Older People: The Case of Gwangju Senior Friendly Products Center

Abstract
Smart Homes imply that the house is intelligent by themselvesamong all entities and components, and human is the center of theintelligent house. Global increase of the elderly populationchallenges the new technologies and the emerging market of thesenior friendly products and industries. Also, the smart home is animmediate alternative for the senior healthcare services. Thisresearch surveys the concepts of the smart homes, and introducesan example of a case of Gwangju Senior Products Center.Especially, five key components for the smart home have beenexplained in details regarding the example, and further investigateson the approaches how to improve the current Gwangju smarthome, and further development direction based on the lessons.
