A Study on the Types of Sexual Conflicts among Korean Elderly Men

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the types of sexualconflicts among Korean elderly men. Based on the qualitativeresearch method, in-depth interviews were conducted to 9 menwho were over 65 years old and had been married over 25 years.For data analysis, the paradigm model which is proposed byStrauss and Corbin (1990) was used. From the analysis, a total of88 categories were conceptualized including 13 main categories, 24sub-categories, and 51 characters and dimensions of categories.The paradigm model had 6 stages, that is, causal conditions, corephenomenon, context, intervening conditions, interaction, andconsequences. In addition, four types of sexual conflicts amongKorean elderly men were found: disputing type, waiving type,quarrelling type, and violent type. This study examined sexualconflicts among Korean elderly men as a process, rather than as aone time event. It found the various factors that affect theformation of sexual conflicts for Korean elderly men.
